Personal Statement/Career Objective

Animation of any form has always been my passion. From a very young age I have always been interested in how things moved. In my younger years I would produce simple flip books and animated graphics on my old Amiga computer.

I am available for Full-Time work & relocation or Freelance Animation work. Whether that is game based, film or TV, I am easily adaptable into any working pipeline.

Experience/Achievements

College and University have allowed me to pursue projects that I am enthusiastic about. I have produced some short animations and have learned much from my tutors and peers. In 2004 I left the UK for 3 months to study Alias Maya software in Dickson, Tennessee in the USA for a period of 12 weeks. This was known as the Maya i-12 course ('I' for intensive) where I lived, breathed and slept Maya and 3D. It was there that I learned the Maya 3D package and gained much knowledge on pipelines and workflow from the www.3DBuzz.com team who ran the course. I also gained a basic working knowledge of MEL - Maya's scripting language.

Enthusiasms

Traditional art I find to be a stress relieving pass-time. I enjoy still-life drawings and drawing animals. Working in Photoshop allows me to work when pencil and paper are absent. Computers have been a big part of my life, since I was introduced to the ZX Spectrum at around 8 years old. Since then I have had a number of Amiga computers and PCs.

I am also an avid computer games player. Not only do I enjoy any type of computer game but I have BETA tested a number, including the sci-fi game 'EVE' (www.eve-online.com) ,the well-known Counter-Strike (www.counter-strike.net) and have been a tester for Valve Software's 'Steam' content delivery system technology for many years.

Other interests include watching films at the cinema and sport. Badminton has been a passion for me - and I have become quite skilled. I have played for Cumbria on a number of occasions. I have also been to 3DFestival in Denmark in 2003, and Annecy Festival in France in 2007 and 2008 where a number of animated shorts that I have worked on were nominated for prizes. I also have a full UK drivers licence and have taken part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.
